Jerontay Clemons - Dominates MCA All-Star Game

Jerontay Clemons, a member of the GLORY 16U/11th grade team had an outstanding performance in the Mississippi Coaches All-Star game July 8, 2011 in Jackson, MS.  Being one of the nations most highly recruited guards, her performance was no surprise, Jerontay was voted a Ms Basketball finalist in the state of Mississippi as an 8th grader.  This young lady is a talent to behold, her offensive ability, defensive intensity and court leadership will make her a great asset to any NCAA Div.1 women’s basketball team.

CLINTON— Coldwater’s Jerontay Clemons and Lawrence County’s Tiaria Griffin are considered by most to be the state’s top two guards.

It’s highly unlikely that anyone at Mississippi College’s Wood Coliseum on Saturday would dispute that after watching the two dynamic guards battle in the 47th annual Mississippi High School Girls All-Star game.

Clemons poured in 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the North to an 86-82 victory.

Griffin, named Most Valuable Offensive Player, countered with a game-high 30 points in her team’s loss.

“It was really fun and I enjoyed just going back and forth with her (Clemons),” said Griffin.

Clemons’ dominant performance came just one night after she won the first-ever girls slam dunk title in Friday’s All-Star extravaganza.

“I just wanted to win,” said Clemons. “Winning today feels better than winning (the slam dunk title) last night.”

The 5-foot-7 Clemons, who also had a key steal late, was named the game’s Most Valuable Defensive Player.

“Clemons is a beast,” said North co-coach Stephanie Murphy of Brandon. “She is an unbelievable talent as far as quickness and explosiveness. She is just so hard to guard and such a fun player to watch.”

Griffin, who also had five rebounds and five assists, was the lone South player in double figures.

“Tiaria stepped up for us offensively and when we needed some offense, she came through,” said South co-coach Vicki Rutland of Lawrence County. “I’m really proud of how well she played defensively because that’s what we have been working on.”

The North, meanwhile, had five players to join Clemons in double figures.

Myrtle’s AsprionaGilbert had 14 points, including eight in the game’s final 3 minutes. Gilbert’s bucket in the paint with 20 seconds left put the North ahead for good.

“We knew we had a height advantage late and Aspriona did a great job of finishing,” said Murphy.

Oxford’s Erika Sisk and Okolona’s Quinndella Ford, an Ole Miss commitment, scored 12 each and Alexis Hardaway (H.W. Byers) and Tia Coleman (Horn Lake) scored 10 each.

Hardaway was also the recipient of the Michael Crouther Sportsmanship Award.

Torri Lewis (2015) Shines Bright ! !

Team Tennessee Glory’s Victoria (Torri) Lewis used Peach State Hoops’ Fab Five Camp to continue to rise her stock as a division I athlete.  National evaluators were very impressed with her work ethic, below is their evaluation of her performance and abilities.  Torri has received scholarship offers and interest from several division I programs.
Victoria Lewis, 5’10”, SF
Olive Branch, Miss./Home School
Class of 2015
The young wing was really good in both the drill sessions and in the game play as well. She was here an entire hour before Fab Five Camp started on Thursday to get shots up and work on her game. Smooth with the ball, Lewis projects as a versatile wing who is able to make plays in the half court or open floor. Our Assistant Director of Scouting, Jonathan Hemingway, was impressed with her game going into the weekend. Her play did nothing to diminish his original evaluation.

Torri makes a lasting impression at the Kansas State Invitational Elite Camp.  Her performances impressed the coaching staff so much that they want her as a future Wildcat! ! !  Way to go Torri !!

GLORY Athlete's Standout at Peach State Tip-Off Classic

TEAM Tennessee Glory had a great showing in the 2011 Peach State Tip-Off Classic with the Team Tennessee Glory 15 winning the Green division.  A couple of individual performances did not go unnoticed either.  PeachStateHoops national evaluators, Stephen Peck and  Johnathan Hemingway, had this to say about Victoria Lewis and Chyna Ellis.

Victoria Lewis – 5’9” – Wing
Team TN Glory 15U/Home school/Olive Branch, TN
Class of 2015

Victoria blasted onto the court of Joe Marelle Gymnasium early Sunday morning with a flurry of spin moves and behind the back passes. This lanky, long armed shooting guard looks unassuming when she goes through the lay-up lines in pre-game, but she makes a name for herself when the tip goes up. She still needs to physically mature. Nevertheless, Lewis has all the tools to be legitimate prospect for years to come. She can handle it, shoot it, and even has a flair for the spectacular. We look forward to watching Victoria come back to many Peach State events in the future.

Torri Lewis - MHEA

Chyna Ellis – 6’2″ – Post
Team TN Glory 15U/Arlington High/Memphis, TN
Class of 2014

Chyna’s long thin frame and athletic ability make her a very diverse player. She has good touch around the rim and the ability to finish without putting the ball on the
floor. Despite her thin frame, Ellis will mix it up with players that out match her in size. She is deceptively strong. To be successful at the next level,
Chyna will need to have more control of her game. Her aggressiveness is an asset, but she needs to fine tune that aggression, and play more efficiently.
She has good footwork on both ends and when she gets to the line, has good touch/form on her shot.

GLORY wins 15U/16U Division Championship at Peach State Tip-Off Classic.

Team Tennessee Glory 15U (2014) competed at Brandon Clay’s, Peach State Basketball Tip-Off Classic in Atlanta, GA. April 15 – 17, 2011.  The team got off to a fast start by defeating the SouthEastern Lady Blazers 16U in exhibition play with outstanding play from Grace Wade (Faith Christian Aca.), Chyna Ellis (Arlington) and sharp shooter Sydney Smith (Collierville).  The team progressed through their first bracket game by posting 17 point victory over Florida’s Finest’ 16U team.  The GLORY then faced the perennial powerhouse program Louisiana Domino’s 15U team. This game was a highlight of the event, in front of a capacity crowd, with fans and college coaches, the game went down to the wire. The GLORY was down by 7 points with 1:10 remaining, but with outstanding play from Courtney Banks (White Station), Jasmine Cincore (Central), Ashley Jackson (Ridgeway), and Torri Lewis (MHEA) the game was tied with a 3-point goal by Lewis as time expired.  In the sudden death OT the GLORY played pressure defense which forced the Domino’s to shoot and miss.  Jackson cleared the rebound with an outlet to Banks who attacked the retreating defense only to make a phenomenal pass to Lewis for a layup and game winning basket.  The Championship game proved to be an all-out assault on TN Xtreme 15U. Gabbrella Salazar (Briarcrest) sparked the unit with 3-point accuracy and point-guard play. Raylin Starks (Arlington), Taylor Johnson (Kirby), Jasmine Hurley (DeSoto Central) kept the Xtreme’s 6”4’ post play at bay, while Yasmeen Brady (Central) overall aggressive play helped close out the contest.  The Peach State event is college exposure at it’s best, with multiple GLORY athletes receiving offers from SEC, Conference USA, and BIG 12 colleges.  Next up, the GLORY will travel to St. Louis, MO. on April 30 to participate in the USJN Gateway Challenge.

GLORY 13U/8th Grade Finishes Runner-Ups…

Team Tennessee GLORY 13U/8th Grade finished Runner-up’s at the Huntsville, AL. AAU Super Regional Tournament held April 8 – 10, 2011.  The team traveled to Huntsville, AL. to face some of the toughest competition in the country.  After their first place finish in pool-play and semi-final game victory the team would face the #3 ranked team in the country, GA Pistols for the SRT Championship.  The GA Pistols swept through the competition with a 20+ point magrgin of victory, but the GLORY showed them otherwise.  After a tough, hard fought battle the girls couldn’t overcome the 7 point deficit.  Great jobs ladies, Coach Michelle Malone and Coach Crystal Shelton…  A special team in the making… Looking forward to competing at the AAU National Championships…

Glory Dominates in Little Rock…

Team Tennessee Glory is off to a great start, the 15U/Soph team swept the field, to go 6 – 0 and win the Championship of the Girlz Got Game tournament held in Little Rock, AR, April 2 & 3, 2011.  The GLORY posted a 30 point average margin of victory for the tournament.  Each contest provided dominant performances by freshmens Ashley Jackson, Jasmine Cincore, Courtney Banks, Rayelynn Starks, Cyhna Ellis, Tenelle Walker, Grace Wade, Sydney Smith, Gabriella Salazar & Yasmeen Brady, these are some the nations top prospects for 2014.  The team was anchored by sophmore Jasmine Hurly and the prolific 8th grade phenom Torri Lewis.  To cap off a great weekend of basketball, point guard Courtney Banks was named tournament MVP.
